Studio Associate

Help us build the place where all builders belong.

Central Brick Society is an independent LEGO® creative studio in downtown Highland Park. Builders of all ages come here to shop, stay, build and play, side by side with friends, family and people they’re meeting for the first time. Our tagline is “where all builders belong,” and the whole place is built around it.

We’re hiring part-time Studio Associates. One minute you’re ringing up a set. The next you’re helping a first-time visitor find a seat at the build table. That’s the job. Part shop, part studio, and most of all about people.

You’ll thrive here if

  • You believe everyone belongs, and it shows in how you treat every person who walks in.
  • You enjoy connecting with people, and you’re quick to help someone else find their place in a group.
  • People find you easy to talk to. Kids, parents, teens and adult collectors all feel comfortable approaching you.
  • You meet people where they are, including neurodivergent builders and their families. If someone communicates differently, you adjust.
  • You’re upbeat, you take feedback well, and you want to keep improving.
  • You’d rather help a teammate than stand around.
  • You are available to work some evenings and/or weekends.

Bonus points

  • You’ve worked with people somewhere: retail, a camp, coaching, teaching, childcare, theater, a restaurant or a volunteer role all count.
  • You’re creative and like making things.
  • You know your way around LEGO® bricks, whether that’s themes, techniques or a favorite element. It’s not required. We’ll teach you what you need.

This may not be the right fit if you’d rather work behind the scenes than with guests, or if you want a job where every day looks the same.

What you’ll do

  • Welcome guests, answer questions, help with purchases, and educate them on membership options
  • Guide open builds: show people the Brick Bar, spark ideas and help builders connect with each other
  • Support birthday parties, workshops, build challenges and camps
  • Keep the Brick Bar sorted, stocked and clean, including sanitizing and sorting bricks, and resetting the build areas between sessions
  • Help keep the studio welcoming: take out the trash, vacuum, dust the displays and sets, and handle other cleaning as needed
  • Handle checkout and registrations (we’ll train you on our systems)
